
Our classes are mostly designed to be single sessions, with a completed project to take home! Great for out-of-towners, busy moms, parties and new sewers!
Quilting Appetizer - An Introduction
1 x 2½ hour class
If you've always wanted to try quilting, this is the workshop for you! We will touch the basics of quilting, do some cutting and sew a pillow-sized patchwork block to take home at the end of the day. This 2.5 hour class will give you a small taste of quilting without investing a lot of time or money and if you like it, you can join us for The Quilt Bee

Baby Quilt Workshop
1 x 3-hour class
Is there a baby in your life who deserves only the very best, lovingly handmade quilt? This quick project makes a great gift for a special baby.
Cost: $30 + materials

Applique Appetizer - An Introduction
1 x 2½-hour class
Applique is a technique used for applying designs onto a background fabric. While often used for quilts, it can also be used to apply shapes onto almost any fabric: embellish kids' clothes, tote bags, pillows, etc. Students will be introduced to several hand applique techniques, including the freezer paper method. This particular method is versatile and can lead to creative, artistic results. We will make one block that can be made into a pillow, tote bag or mini quilt.

Log Cabin Pillow
1 x 2-hour class
Log cabin quilting, a simple and artful way to piece stripes of fabric around a central square to build a geometric block, is the perfect way to get started quilting. It's intuitive, easy to understand and only uses straight line stitching. The basic idea is incredibly adaptable and your colour pattern and arrangement choices ensure a very personal outcome.
Cost: $20 + materials

The Quilt Bee
1 x 3-hour class
Is there a quilt you've always wanted to make? A UFO (un-finished object) in your life? Bring your own pattern and supplies or browse through our pattern library and purchase your supplies at Bee at a student discout and we will provide the machines, a cozy, bright and distraction-free workspace, and of course, Susan's expert advice to guide you through the making of your quilt.
Join us for a single class, or sign up for as many sessions as your project requires.

Strippy quilt- a great way to use up your stash or choose one of our precut kits. See sample in store. (1x3-hour class)
T-shirt quilt- do you have a collection of t-shirts (or your spouse/child)? Learn how to recycle them into a beautiful memory quilt. (1x 3-hour class).
Square dance- cutting your fabric into strips can lead to a new family heirloom! Can be made any size - baby, lap, bed. Samples available in store. (1x 3-hour class)

Pieced sampler quilt - make several different blocks that can be assembled into a quilt. Learn rotary cutting, sashing, setting and quick piecing techniques in 6 weeks.
Applique sampler quilt - learn fusible applique, machine applique, freezer paper, raw edge and needleturn applique. (6 sessions)
Hawaiian applique - if you remember the fun of cutting paper snowflakes as a child, you will like this class. Using needleturn applique and 2 fabrics, we will make a beautiful graphic quilt. See sample in store. (4 sessions)
Log cabin, wonky log cabin, bento box, court house steps- simple to make yet sophisticated, these patterns provide infinite possibilities. Learn how to put your own twist on these classic blocks and make a modern keepsake. (4 sessions)

Wool Applique
1 x 2½-hour class
Have you tried Wool Applique yet? This easy craft gives you stunning results with minimal prep work. Colour and pattern choices can result in a project that is either primitive and traditional or fun and modern. Wool applique is great for pillows, table toppers, quilts and can be added to garments. A variety of embroidery stitches will be used to embellish the applique.

Kids' Owl Pillow Workshop
1 x 2½-hour class
This adorable owl pillow would be delighted to perch on your bed! Pick your fabrics and learn how to make this fun project - we will be learning how to applique by machine and hand and how to sew the pillow together.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery
1 x 2½-hour class
Embroidery is a great way to personalize any garment or home accessory. Using ribbon provides a two-fold benefit; it's not only beautiful, it's also quite fast. Designs can be finished in half the time it takes to work with standard embroidery thread since ribbon is generally much wider. Any fabric can be dressed up with a well-placed stitch or two.

My Quilt Top is Done - What Now?
1 x 3-hour class
Learn about the many methods you can use to finish a quilt. This class will cover how to make the backing, assemble the quilt sandwich, quilting (hand or machine) and binding. Voila! Your quilt project is finished!

Trying to get those gift projects finished but you are stuck? Bring along your patchwork or quilting projects and we'll get you going again!

Bed Runner Workshop
1 x 3-hour class
Bed runners make the perfect gift! As decorative as they are functional, they can be added to the end of the bed in the Winter for extra warmth for cold feet, or be a simple way to change a room's decor or brighten up a solid bedspead. Quick and easy to make and customize, you can also add pockets for books or remotes or adjust the size to fit your mattress.

Kid's Quilted Stocking
1 x 2-hour class
This is a Christmas project that is fast and easy enough for a beginner. But better than that, this is a project that you can make for someone special, who may keep and use it for a lifetime!

* Classes are limited to 5 students for a personal learning experience, so please sign up in advance. Payment is required to reserve your space.
* Missed classes will be rescheduled subject to availability. A full refund will be given if class is cancelled by Bee.
* Use of our sewing machines, rotary cutters, mats and rulers is included for class sessions. Other materials are not provided.
* All materials are available for purchase at Bee at a 10% student discount. However, you may also bring your own.
* A fat quarter is a half yard of 45" wide fabric cut in half, giving you a rectangle approximately 18" x 22".
* A basic sewing kit consists of scissors, pins, seam ripper and a marking tool.
* Some of our sewing classes require fabrics to be pre-washed, dried and ironed before class.
* For classes that follow a pattern, please open the pattern and read it before coming to class. Even if it doesn't make much sense to you, your being familiar with the pattern will allow us to focus on sewing techniques in the class.
